Head-to-Head Hotel Tech Comparisons

Every comparison on lodligfy starts from first principles. Our editorial team conducts independent research — testing real platforms, speaking to property managers, and applying a rigorous scoring framework — so you get honest signal, never vendor spin.

Our methodology: Each vendor is evaluated across five weighted dimensions — Pricing Transparency, Feature Depth, Integration Ecosystem, Customer Support Quality, and Scalability for Growth. Scores are recalculated quarterly as products evolve. No vendor pays for placement or review modification.

How quickly can a mid-size hotel go live — without a dedicated IT team?

We evaluate onboarding from the perspective of a 50-room independent property with no in-house technical staff. Our testers attempt to complete a full initial configuration — room inventory, rate plans, guest profiles, and at least one channel connection — within a defined window.

  • →Time-to-first-booking: We measure elapsed hours from account creation to a test reservation appearing in the dashboard.
  • →Documentation quality: Are setup guides step-by-step, current, and jargon-free? Do video walkthroughs exist?
  • →Data migration support: Does the vendor assist with importing existing guest history, or is that left to you?
  • →Guided vs. self-serve: Platforms with interactive onboarding checklists or a dedicated implementation manager score higher.

Scoring scale: 1–10. A score of 9–10 means a non-technical hotelier can go live within one business day unaided.

Does the platform cover the full front-desk and CRM workflow, or is it just a reservation calendar?

This is our highest-weighted criterion because a PMS or CRM that lacks key operational features forces hoteliers into costly workarounds. We review a standardised checklist of 64 capabilities grouped into six functional domains.

Reservation & folio management
Housekeeping & maintenance
Guest profile & CRM records
Revenue & rate management
Reporting & analytics dashboards
Front-desk & check-in/out flows

Each capability is marked as Fully Implemented, Partially Implemented, or Absent. Partial implementations receive 0.5 points. The final domain score is normalised to 10.

A score of 8+ means the platform covers all critical daily workflows without mandatory third-party add-ons.

Can the platform talk to the rest of your tech stack — OTAs, payment gateways, revenue tools?

Modern hotel operations rely on a constellation of connected tools. We assess both the breadth of native integrations and the quality of the underlying API for custom development.

  • →Native connectors: We count live, officially supported integrations across OTA channels, payment processors, revenue management systems, and guest communication tools.
  • →API documentation: Is a public REST or GraphQL API available? Is it documented with sandbox access? Are webhooks supported?
  • →Marketplace maturity: Does the vendor operate a verified app marketplace? How frequently are integrations updated?
  • →Channel manager quality: Two-way sync speed, inventory accuracy, and the number of supported OTA channels are tested directly.

Platforms with fewer than 30 native integrations and no public API documentation cannot score above 6 in this category.

Is the true cost of ownership clear before you sign? No hidden fees, surprise seat charges, or opaque contracts.

Hotel software pricing is notoriously opaque. We believe hoteliers deserve to know exactly what they'll pay before committing to a demo call. This criterion rewards vendors who publish pricing clearly and penalises those who gatekeep costs behind sales conversations.

  • →Published pricing pages: Does the vendor show at least base-tier pricing publicly? Is a free trial available without requiring a credit card?
  • →Fee structure clarity: Are per-booking fees, per-user charges, onboarding fees, and module unlock costs disclosed upfront?
  • →Contract flexibility: Are month-to-month plans available? What are the notice and cancellation terms?
  • →Value alignment: We compare starting prices against the feature set delivered at that tier. Expensive platforms that justify cost through genuine functionality are scored fairly.

A maximum score requires publicly listed pricing, no mandatory setup fees, and month-to-month billing options.

When things break at 2 AM before a sold-out weekend, is expert help actually reachable?

Support quality is tested through mystery contacts across all advertised channels. We submit identical, moderately complex technical queries and measure both speed and resolution quality.

Response Time
Median time-to-first-response across live chat, email, and phone.
Resolution Rate
Percentage of issues resolved in a single contact without escalation.
Knowledge Base
Depth, accuracy, and searchability of self-service documentation.

We also review G2, Capterra, and TrustPilot support sentiment scores, weighting verified hotel-operator reviews more heavily than anonymous submissions.

24/7 live support with a median response under 5 minutes is the benchmark for a 10/10 score.

Can the platform grow with you from a single property to a multi-brand portfolio without a rip-and-replace?

We evaluate scalability from two angles: technical capacity and commercial flexibility. A platform that performs flawlessly at 40 rooms but buckles under a 500-room resort load — or charges prohibitively to add properties — fails this criterion regardless of its other strengths.

  • →Multi-property management: Can a group manage multiple hotels from a single login? Is consolidated reporting available across properties?
  • →User & role management: Does the platform support granular permission tiers as headcount grows? Is SSO / SAML supported for enterprise groups?
  • →Performance under load: We review published uptime SLAs and analyse community reports for performance degradation during peak booking periods.
  • →Enterprise tiers: Is there a clear upgrade path with dedicated infrastructure options, custom SLAs, or white-label capabilities for management companies?

Platforms that enforce hard property caps or lack a multi-property dashboard receive no more than 5/10 here.

Disagree with a score? Tell us.

Our methodology is a living document. If you're a hotelier or vendor with evidence that a score misrepresents a platform's real-world capability, we actively review and revise. Credibility is everything to us.
